Teams Information
We have 5 teams that receive coached training each week. We cater to the needs of complete beginners all the way through to Elite level competitive players. Our coaches will provide an initial assessment and grading for all new players and this determines the team that they maybe invited into. Ongoing players skill development, is valued and supported by our Coaching Committee, who conduct a grading reassessment twice a season. Successful players will be offered promotions and are confirmed in their new team after a 3 months probation. All Team players also have first priority choice to also play recreationally each Sunday at our home base at Bethnal Green Sports Centre from 12noon to 4pm.
Rockets
(C Level): Rockets is our beginners level team at Spikers. If you have played very little volleyball before, then this is the best place for you to grow. Rockets provide the perfect opportunity to learn all about volleyball in a very friendly, fun and supportive way. This group is one of the most sociable within the club, and the team takes every opportunity to play friendly games or to travel to weekend tournaments. Rockets sessions are on Sunday afternoon and Thursday evenings. One is coached and the other is just fun play.
Thunderball
(B- to B Level): Thunderball is the Intermediate Access level team at Spikers. For those seeking to play volleyball a step up from Beginners, this is a great team to join. They are registered in the entry level London League Division 2, and play matches every 2 weeks. The team is full of fun characters and has a lively spirit. Weekly coached training’s take place on Thursday evenings in a school close to Vauxhall Tube station.
Fireball
(B to B+ Level): Fireball is the Intermediate Upper level team at Spikers and is for those seeking to have a more competitive and challenging level of play. We have one of our most experienced coaches provide focussed team building and individual skills development. The team often ranks in the middle to upper end of the London League Division 2, and will have matches every 2 weeks. Weekly Coached training’s take place on Tuesday Evenings in a school very close to Edgeware Rd tube station.
Powerball
(B+ to A Level): Powerball is the Advanced access level team at Spikers and is for those who have both the skills to play and a mind to learn more advanced team strategy. We have a terrific technical coach from Italy providing training sessions that stretch players ability and will teach players lots of great stuff. The team has a history of being very socialabe and fun. They play matches every 2 weeks in Division 1 of the London League and train on Wednesday evenings at Bethnal Green.
Spikers
(A to A+ Level): Spikers is the flagship and Advanced upper level team within the club. The team has an internationally talented collection of players who are very used to pushing their solid skills, training and matches all the way. Many years of no attitude, diverse approaches and great collaboration, have resulted in being Winners of the London Premier League 2007/8 & 2009/10. The team also contributes many of the coaches for our other teams. The London League Premier Level matches occur every 2 weeks and training takes place at Bethnal Green on Wednesday evenings. New Elite players are always welcome to tryout with us.
